You should get new lipstick every month and eyeshadow every three months. Otherwise bacteria can get into them and give you a eye infection such as pink eye.How long does eyeshadow and lipstick keep?

I was told by arealy nice old woman that you can keep make up for ever if you keep it in a safe invironment.
It depends on the brand, but a general rule of thumb is that eyeshadow keeps for about 1/2 year, and lipstick 4 months. If you keep them longer, however, nothing happens, usually.
Truly I keep mine forever, but don't tell the FDA they say that lips are 6 months and eyes are 12, but most new packaging is including this info...I think it is going to be mandatory
